If your ex husband has not satisfied his own personal liabilities to HMRC then this is not your responsibility. If your ex husband is simply saying that he thinks it is right that you help with repayment, and you disagree, then at this stage there is very little else you can do. If at some point in the future he chooses to try and pursue you for a debt he believes you owe to him then you may need to take legal advice on disputing his claims.
