Payplan

Payplan has been helping people in debt since 1994. They're based in Lincolnshire, not a million miles from where Maggie Thatcher grew up and Payplan is currently one of the largest commercial debt help organisations in the UK. They are best known for their free debt management plans which is the reason they are featured on our homepage, despite not being a charity. They also offer advice on IVAs and bankruptcy. They claim to help, advise, support and provide solutions to more than 100,000 people for free, each and every year.

Who would we advise you talk to before Payplan?

Information is good but major bad point is they continue to hassle you with pushy sales tactics i think they should ease up on phone calls demanding when paperwork will be received and allow people to consider all options. To allow for a more informed veiw instead of in my opinion taking advantage of vunerable people in desperate circumstance.

I used payplan about 6 years ago. at first it seemed brilliant. I could see the amount I owed coming down each month when I logged in. But, when I got doen to only around £1000 left I decided to stop the payplan and pay it off myself over a couple of months. But when I actually contacted the companies I owed money to I was surprised to find I still owed nearly £4000 still! The amount remaining when I logged in was only an ESTIMATE. add to this the fact that I was paying £140 a month on a natwest loan before starting with them. And they only paid £110 towards it each month and I got a DEFAULT on my credit file, all for the sake of £30 a month. Just another one of the sharks feeding off people who are struggling if you ask me.

I agree with the other reviews. They are great on the phone and very very helpful, but then hassle you constantly for a decision immediately. If they just backed off a bit and sent some information through to read and let people make an informed decision it would feel more comfortable. High pressure tactics always concern me as I got caught out before with First Plus! However it seems as though they are trying to do their best and only time will tell.

we contacted CCCS about a month ago after serious problems with debt which was leading to serious problems with our relationship, the online site is easy to use and understand, we were then sent a debt remedy pack, which tells you what creditors can and cant do, what we can do and what we dont have to do, within 3 weeks our DMP was up and running and our lifes have been drastically improved, i can sleep at nite, i dont dread the postman turning up, i can answer my home phone with no worries and our relationship is really so much better (its suprising how much damage financial stress can cause before you even realise its happened). we are now activly paying off our debts, have sufficeint money to live on, and are considerably happier about the whole situation! CCCS are an amazing organisation, they are allways at the end of the phone if we have any questions, worries or simply need to know something about our debt, and not once have i felt embarressed about my debt while speaking to them, which i think is one of the best parts! and to think, they have done all of this for us for £00000!!!!!! ok, they claim the interest on the money we pay them before they pay our creditors, but i think that is totally fair and just! if any1 from CCCS is reading this i would like to thank you for being so helpfull and changing our lifes, good job-well dun!!!

Appalling company, poor often conflicting advice, they avoid answering questions, frequently lose correspondence or deny having received it. Most of their staff have very low or poor knowledge base about thier industry. Rarely speak to same person twice. Often rude and very arrogant. Have had to complain about their staff on at least three occasions.
